About Us

Rocksgate Winery, located in the Bedfordale hills in the City of Armadale, is one of Perth Hills Wine Region's newest boutique wineries.

Thirty five minutes from the Perth CBD and five minutes from the Armadale Centre this picturesque winery is located in the beautiful Canns Rd valley, high on a gravely loam hillside that has a northerly aspect with sweeping valley views. The vineyard comprises of Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot grape varieties. Here the grapes have cool, wet winters while at the same time receive maximum sunlight each day ensuring the production of good quality red wine.

Shiraz planting took place in 2001, followed by Cabernet in 2003, and finally Merlot in 2005 on approximately one and half hectares of land. Our vineyard is managed with minimum use of insecticides with the vines being hand pruned. The grapes are hand picked, basket pressed and then matured in French or American oak for twenty months before being bottled.

Production of our wines is carried out on the premises with the expertise of our consultant wine maker, Siobhan Lynch from Margaret River, who is also on hand for picking, crushing, racking and bottling.

The past six years has been a time of anticipation, excitement and hard work for the owners Trevor Cook and Brenda O'Connell who proudly opened their cellar door to the public in July 2006. We have continued to grow and learn, with our Shiraz now at full production. We were awarded a Silver Medal in the 2008 Perth Hills Wine Show for our 2007 Shiraz.

Our Cabernet grapes are producing wine of a high quality and we have just picked the third vintage of Merlot grapes. We have also expanded and now have licensed alfresco eating areas for our wood fired pizzas.
